If you have the e-mail signature turned on (default setting) and want to suppress it for a particular e-mail address entry, or you have turned it off but would like to use it for certain recipients, you can specify the setting in the directory entry for any messages that you send by selecting that address. You can also set individual entries to prompt for the signature.

To control the signature for an individual directory entry:

  1. When creating that entry, follow the e-mail address in the Information box immediately by a colon (":"), no separating space.
  2. Follow the colon by the setting indicator as used in the settings file to specify the default signature operation. That is, plus sign ("+") to append the signature, exclamation mark ("!") to not append it, or another colon to prompt you for confirmation. To just turn the signature off, the exclamation mark is unnecessary, simply appending a colon to the e-mail address will have this effect.

Specifying a different file, instead of the default, to use for the signature, is covered in the following section on e-mail templates.
