In most cases, it is helpful to include descriptive or instructional text on screen as well as the actual menu, and a title for the menu.

There is nothing to prevent you from printing extra lines, but it would be possible to "select" them by pressing their first character, unless this was outside the range of acceptable hotkeys (0 or not alphanumeric). You can get round this by preceding the text with a colon (":"). The colon is not displayed, just the ensuing text, but it prevents the text from having a hotkey. It does not, however, prevent you from including a colon at the start of the displayed text if required, just put another colon after the one that prevents the hotkey assignment.

Note that if the command line parameter where you are using this feature includes new line suppression, extra line generation or leading white space characters, the colon must follow these, or they will be treated literally as part of the displayed text.

This feature enables you to safely include command line parameters that produce formatted text on the screen, a menu title, menu dividers, whatever is appropriate to the display of the menu but not included in the menu itself.
