A menu can be set up with a "default option", which is selected by pressing ENTER as well as by pressing its hotkey, if any.
To specify an option as the default, begin the command line parameter containing its display text with an asterisk ("*"). If the intended item also contains new line suppression, blank line generation, or leading white space characters, the asterisk must come after these.
The asterisk is not included in the text displayed for the item. If you wish to display it, or otherwise indicate on screen that the item is the default item, you must include the indicating character(s) in the ensuing display text.
Defining an item as the default selection disables its ordinary hotkey, because the asterisk as first character is not allowed for menu selection, and in any case, would probably not be the choice for a hotkey. To add an alphanumeric hotkey to the default item, so that this key can be pressed as an alternative to ENTER to select the item, follow the asterisk with an ampersand sign and then the required hotkey, as described in the section on assigning hotkeys.
