To dial a telephone number, type the letter "d", type the number, which may include spaces and hyphens, and press CR. The letter "d" is the dialling command, which can be customised; "d" is used by default in accordance with the Dacom modem's dialling command.
If WTC finds the dialling command at the beginning of the input, followed immediately by a number and no other text, it sends the required command to the modem to dial that number and displays the accepted message. You should then wait for further feedback from the modem to indicate connection or failure, as with the VersaBraille and Dacom.
The number does not have to be just digits, but can be a "natural" 'phone number with groups of digits separated by a space or a hyphen, or enclosed in brackets - (). The number is automatically preceded by the Text Relay text-to-text prefix (18001), so you do not need to type this before numbers to go through the relay service (but it does not matter if you do, WTC recognises it and does not prefix it twice). If, however, you do not want all or most of your numbers to be dialled through Text Relay, you can modify VB mode so as not to use the prefix, or to use a different one. If you have disabled use of the Text Relay prefix, you can type it manually before numbers where you do require it, or if you have the prefix enabled for most of your numbers, you can use the direct dialling capability by adding a fullstop to the end of the number to make a specific call without it.
