This feature is currently only available for those who are using the directory rather than relying on command dialling.

Although the use of the Text relay services is necessary if a textphone user is ringing a person with hearing using a standard telephone, many people prefer not to go through Text Relay for a telephone call to another textphone user. It is, however, perfectly okay to dial with the Text Relay prefix, which is the default setting, when 'phoning another textphone user, as Text Relay will then connect the call directly without an operator mediating it.

If you prefer to dial your textphone contacts without the relay service but need the Text Relay prefix for most of your calls, you can store those numbers in the directory followed by a period ("."). The period at the end of a stored number indicates that it is to be dialled as-is, without a prefix.
