Files in the library are generally plain text documents. You can create library documents by just copying files into the WintextCom library folder.

However, WintextCom provides a powerful mechanism for saving information in the library from virtually any source. As described later, you can retrieve text from documents in your word processor, from web pages, e-mail messages and other applications, and display it in the WintextCom Reader in "capture mode". When you are reading information in capture mode, pressing ENTER opens the library for you to save the information as a document, or append it to an existing document. After pressing ENTER, type in a name for the file; you do not need to include an extension, ".txt" is automatically appended when you pres ENTER. When you press ENTER after entering a name, the information is saved in the library in the specified file. If the file already exists, you are prompted to replace the existing file or append the new text to it. If you have been reading the text before deciding to save it, and you save it in a new document or by replacing an existing one, your current reading position is bookmarked as when you close a file with Escape. After the file has been saved, you are returned to the application where you initiated the information capture. Press Escape if you decide not to save the information.

Instead of typing in a name for the file, you can press Tab to display the list of files already in the library and select one by pressing ENTER (or left click). You are prompted to replace the file with the new information, or add the new information to the end of the file, press letter R to replace, A to append.
