When a telephone call is connected, whether an incoming call that has been answered or one that you have originated by dialling, modems usually sends the word "CONNECT" to the Braille display. "CONNECT" may be followed by a number and/or other cryptic information, then follows any text that is received from the other end of the line. The modem will not send any messages to the display during a call, only what is being sent down the line, anything else is what you type.
When you hang up the call by pressing Escape, you will see "OK" appear on the display after a brief pause. If, however, the call disconnects because the person at the other end of the line has hung up or a fault has occurred, "NO CARRIER" is displayed.
"NO CRRIER" is also displayed when the modem cannot connect a call that you have originated, or an incoming call cannot be connected. If you dial a number and the line is engaged, the word "Busy" will be sent to the display.
