The Braille translator is implemented by the exemplary Liblouis Braille translation system of Abilitiessoft, Inc., and produces excellent contracted and uncontracted Braille independently of the screen reading software, if any.

Using WintextCom's built-in Braille translator makes more efficient use of the Braille display than relying upon translation by a screen reader. It allows for accurate, error free formatting of text within the Braille display length specified in WintextCom's settings. If you rely upon the screen reader's Braille translation, you either need to set the Braille display length to rather less than is necessary, or risk that some words, or parts of words, will disappear off the end. For best use with screen reader Braille translation, it is often advisable to stay with computer Braille to ensure error free reading, but with the built-in translator you have optimum use of the display without errors, all lines containing as many complete words as possible and all subsequent text available by pressing the Braille advance key.

By default, the Braille translator presents standard English or American English Braille, with or without contractions (basically just numbers and punctuation being represented in Braille form). You can also choose whether or not to have capitals indicated by dot 6. It is possible to use a different or even custom translation table. Note that S.W.H.-Wintextware does not provide free support for the production of customised Braille output, you might like to contact Abilitiessoft direct for help with personalised Braille translation.
