If you want to include System Explorer results in an e-mail message or document, you can stipulate that the output is placed on the Windows clipboard ready for pasting, instead of being displayed in the System Explorer results dialogue box. This may be more convenient than copying from the results box, especially if you want to include several renderings. Copying from the results box allows you to select particular potions of the output, however, which clipboard redirection does not, but of course you do have the option to edit it in the target window after it has been pasted.
Clipboard redirect in requested with the redirection symbol, '>', as per file redirection. Place two redirection symbols after the configuration string in the System Explorer settings input box, as if you intended to specify a file for accumulating the results. Do not specify a filename, simply OK the box with the two redirection symbols at the end. If there is no configuration string before the redirection symbols, the default system snapshot is processed.
When System Explorer is run with clipboard redirection, it displays a message box confirming how many characters have been placed on the clipboard. Wait for this confirmation, then OK the message box, and you can then retrieve the information by pasting into another application. An error message is displayed if for any reason System Explorer was unable to copy the data.
As with file redirection, clipboard redirection remains in effect until the setting is changed or WintextCom is restarted. To cancel clipboard redirection, enter a configuration string ending in a single redirection symbol (same as cancelling file redirection).
