Specify the serial port that WTC is to use to establish a serial connection with a modem or other serial device by simply typing the COM number on the configuration line, separated by white space from any preceding or following directives, other than those noted elsewhere such as to include directly mode switches.

Use:

  1. 1 or more digits to specify a COM port number, starting at 1 for COM11. Do not include "COM".
  2. 0 to specify no serial connection required, this is the default setting.
  3. Colon (":") to refer to the port last specified in setup. This may be required, for example, when specifying directory mode switches or executing WintextCom features on the command line.

Once a port has been specified, all subsequent port configuration options affect that port until another port is specified. You can specify up to 2 serial ports. This is to enable you in particular to specify a port to use for SMS texts separately from telecommunications. The important point is that the configuration of the first port must be completed before the second port is specified.
