WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) supports the use of a perkins-style keyboard used by visually impaired people to type in text and enter commands.

 

There are two kinds of supported Braille keyboard:

• Those that are available on the hardware of supported Braille displays. These keyboards are available in the context in which the associated Braille display is supported.
• You can configure a set of keys on the main computer keyboard to work as a Braille keyboard. This facility is available under all versions of Windows, though there are some minor restrictions on character representation on platforms prior to Windows 2000/XP. See Computer Keyboard Configuration.

 

The following sections describe the features of the Braille input keyboard support that apply to both kinds of keyboard introduced above. These are followed by information on features specific to the computer keyboard configuration and Braille display keyboards.
