If dots 78 as a control modifier is disabled, it is possible to display the entire range of 256 ASCII characters. By default, only Braille characters that fall in the range ASCII 33-127 (decimal) are interpreted as displayable symbols. The default setting can be explicitly specified using the "A" option in the driver configuration string.
The "U" option can be used to set "Unicode mode". It does not allow for the full set of Unicode characters, but does allow the rendering of all ASCII characters in the range 0-255 (decimal). Control on dots 78 must be disabled for this setting to work, as otherwise they are filtered out to generate possible control characters. The enabled/disabled status of dot 7 as a shift modifier is irrelevant.
This setting is only available under Windows 2000/XP and later.
