The WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) Installation Wizard does not provide an option to have the software start up automatically when you boot Windows. There is also no menu item to set this within the program itself.
Although having WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) automatically running when your computer starts up is very convenient, it is not always a good idea until you are used to using it and are sure you have all the settings right to avoid any possible conflict with something else that runs automatically at system start. If you are running WTC in Hide Mode, as is recommended for most general purposes, not having it start automatically only costs you one keystroke or mouse click.
Nevertheless, starting automatically would generally mean that your directory is immediately ready to use when Windows has finished booting, and the program is ready to answer the telephone absolutely as soon as possible with minimum interaction if you are using that facility with the Windows Text Communications installation. S.W.H.-Wintextware would normally recommend using the software with automatic startup, and that support personnel set it up like that for their users at the outset. The suggested procedure is as follows:
Note however that whatever Windows accelerator you apply to the startup shortcut, or if you do not apply one at all, the default keystroke or any icon click will still work just as well since whatever means is used, starting WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) while it is already running switches to the already-running instance, except for the special utilities.
Auto-activation Mode is usually an appropriate configuration if you have WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) starting automatically with Windows. This mode helps to ensure that WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) is actually in the foreground when the Windows boot procedure is complete, and makes the directory automatically display whenever you are not working in another Windows program.
