The VB emulation setup registry file enforces setup for text-to-text communications with a Braille display. However, unless you are using a Freedom Scientific Braille display with WTC's built-in driver instead of having a screen reader provide the display output, the required length and indentation of the Braille line are unknown and must be specified. A length of 18 characters with no indentation is used by default, but you will probably want to increase the length at least.
To specify the Braille length, either edit the "b18" directive in "vb_mode_on_reg", or specify it on the command line in the Windows shortcut that starts WTC. Note that the registry settings override those in the WTC settings file, so you must use the command line to specify a setting outside the registry file (command line settings override registry settings). You can include an indentation in the length specification if you require the Braille to commence some distance along the unit rather that right at the beginning.
Using the Freedom Scientific Braille display driver is discussed in the section on the Braille support file. It detects and uses the full length of the Braille display with no indentation. If you are using the driver but do not want these settings, specify them as above and use the driver setup to instruct it to use them rather than the physical maximum length.
