The File Manager feature of WintextCom enables you to browse your computer's disk and file system in a similar way to Windows Explorer, but offers some additional capabilities which tie in wit other WintextCom features.

You can start File Manager in its default mode by pressing Control+F in the directory, or Control+WindowsKey+X anywhere else. The general operation of File Manager is very standard and it presents explanatory menus. Pressing Control+R in the directory, or Control+WindowsKey+R anywhere else, reopens File Manager in the folder and on the selection where it was last closed; this feature, called File Manager resume, is very useful for quickly returning to a folder or document.

One of the capabilities that characterises the WintextCom File Manager against Windows Explorer is the ability to define what happens when a file is selected. By default, selecting a file opens it in its standard Windows program, as with Windows Explorer, but if you select a file that does not have a program associated with it, File Manager will open it in your word processor. You can change this behaviour to open in another default program to suit your requirements.

File Manager also offers the alternative access key. Pressing Right Arrow will open any file in a specified program. By default, this is Internet Explorer (or other    web browser0, the default reader for library files. The capability to define the default action on a file and alternative action can  be put to many uses, from basic to advanced, not just defining a default word processor and reader.
