It is possible to dial a 'phone number with WintextCom without having to store it in the directory.
There are several ways to do this:
- In the directory, press Control together with the Application Menu Key (also referred to as the context menu key), or click the "WintextCom Run" toolbar button. The store item dialogue box is displayed with the insertion cursor in the Information field, and instead of Insert or Add, there is a button labeled "Execute". You can enter information for immediate processing in the Information box, then click the Execute button or press ENTER. It is similar in functionality to the Windows Run Dialogue, except that the information is processed like a WintextCom directory entry, offering many more capabilities. In this case, type in the 'phone number that you wish to dial. You can press Alt+WindowsKey+Application Menu Key to invoke the WintextCom Run Dialogue at any time while working in any application.
- If the 'phone number you wish to dial is on the Windows clipboard, Right click in the directory or press the Application Menu Key (context menu key) to bring up the directory context menu. Select the "C: Send or execute from clipboard" option. You can also press Control Alt V in the directory to invoke this option. The number stored on the clipboard will be dialled. If there is clipboard information to be processed, the menu item shows the number of characters in brackets, otherwise, it is marked unavailable.
- Probably the most convenient way to dial a 'phone number without storing it is straight from the document where it is located. In a word processor document, e-mail message, on a web page, etc., just select the number you want to dial and press WindowsKey+ENTER.
- You can set up a shortcut key combination that you can press at any time in any application to activate WintextCom and dial a 'phone number. See the configuration and customisation section for details.
- You can provide a 'phone number on the command line for WintextCom to dial immediately on startup, or for an existing instance of the program to dial. This capability also enables you to create desktop icons, start menu items, and other shortcuts to dial numbers. For more information, see the configuration and customisation section of this documentation.
Text-to-text users can also employ these options to send 'phone numbers or other information over the telephone line when on a call, which accounts for the word "send" in the relevant clipboard menu item. Although you can type text directly over the 'phone, the WintextCom Run Dialogue can be used to ensure that a 'phone number you are giving to another person that is not stored in the directory is correct before sending, by enabling you to edit it; if it is in the directory, just select it to give it over the 'phone.
