The WintextCom shell extensions are the global commands that launch your word processor, open the WintextCom Library, etc. Most of them and some associated settings such as related folders are customised using the "%" configuration switches, followed by status information and a path or command line in WintextCom shell format.
The available customisations are listed below, together with the associated local and global commands and description of the default action. The switches are case-sensitive. Some of the switches in this category do not control shell extensions, but are listed here for completeness.
- '%', WindowsKey+Space: Allows you to specify properties of the timer utility.
- 'B', Control F9, Control+Alt+WindowsKey+W: Secondary web browser.
- 'b', Control B, Control+WindowsKey+b: Database.
- 'C', Control S: Capture file (text-to-text communications).
- 'c', Control Shift L, Shift+WindowsKey+C: Windows calculator.
- 'D', Control D, Control+WindowsKey+D: Diary path.
- 'd', Control D, Control+WindowsKey+D: Alternative dialling program.
- 'E', Alt F9, Alt+Control+WindowsKey+E: Alternative e-mail client.
- 'e', Control E, Control+WindowsKey+E: Start e-mail (regular e-mail client).
- 'h', Control H, Control+WindowsKey+H: Open home page in system web browser, switch redefines the command, not the page setting.
- 'j', Control+Alt+WindowsKey+J: JAWS for Windows user settings folder or user alternative.
- 'K', Alt K, Alt+WindowsKey+K: Workspace pah.
- 'L', Control O, Control+WindowsKey+O: Library path.
- 'M': E-mail settings path.
- 'm', F7, WindowsKey+F7: Personal start menu.
- 'N', Alt Space, Alt+WindowsKey+Space: Notes path.
- 'n, Control Shift n, Control+WindowsKey+N: Notepad.
- 'S', Control Shift S, Alt+WindowsKey+S: Scripts path.
- 's', Control S, Control+WindowsKey+S: Spreadsheet.
- 'T', Control K, Control+WindowsKey+K: Document templates path.
- 't', Alt Shift N, WindowsKey+Period: System text editor (usually Notepad, but one or both customisations can be used to prevent these shell extensions being the same).
- 'W': Web settings path.
- 'w', Control W, Control+WindowsKey+W: Word processor.
- 'y', Control Shift Space, Control+WindowsKey+M: My Documents.
- '+/:/-, Alt+F4, close button: Shutdown interceptor.
