As first installed, selecting a telephone number stored in the WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) directory causes it to be pasted into the window you were working in before. For example, if you are writing text in a word processor document and you press the WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) shortcut key to invoke the directory, you can find the line containing a telephone number you want to include in your document to insert it at the cursor position by left clicking it or pressing ENTER.
If you have a serial communications modem in your computer, or connected to it, you can specify that selecting a telephone number dials that number instead; you lift the telephone receiver first, then select the number and Launchpad dials it and leaves you to take the call as if you had dialled yourself on the telephone number pad. If you chose this setup, you can still insert a number into a document by double clicking it in the directory or pressing Control+ENTER.
To enable automatic dialling, select the
"P: Modem port"
option on the directory dialling/setup menu. WTC scans the serial ports on your computer in search of a modem, and if found, displays the port number in the edit box labeled "Port number". If no modem is found, the edit box will be blank.
Sometimes WTC may fail to detect the presence of a modem that is actually there. If you know there is a modem on a given port, you can type the number in manually.
After appending any additional settings to the port number box, as described in the following sections, press ENTER or click the OK button.
Once the port to use for automatic dialling has been set up, you can temporarily disable it during use of WintextCom Personal Information Manager(tm) by selecting the
"D: Dial telephone numbers"
on the dialling/setup menu if you want Launchpad to revert to pasting numbers rather than dialling them. Select the same option to reenable dialling - it is a toggle.
