The directory information modes are used to retrieve or display directory information in other documents or formats.
The information modes are available on the directory send menu. They are the items in square brackets at the bottom of the menu. By default, none is active and the action on pressing ENTER on a directory item is to execute its command line. By selecting an information mode, you determine what happens when you select a directory item or portion of information. When no information mode is active, the default action of Control+ENTER on the selected item or of selecting a block o information is to paste it into the underlying program.
When you select an information mode, the send menu is displayed again for you to select an element of information to act upon. Pressing Control+ENTER on the directory selection performs normal command line execution when an information mode is active. Selecting the current item option on the send menu performs the action of Control+ENTER rather than ENTER.
