Sticky key effects are exhibited primarily by the Shift and Control keys. When a Braille input keyboard is available, wether a main computer keyboard configuration or part of a Braille display unit, pressing and releasing a Shift key shifts the next Braille character typed, and pressing and releasing a Control key makes the next Braille character typed a control character. If the Alt and Windows logo keys have been disabled using WTC's system input settings, these keys also exhibit the sticky effect with a Braille input keyboard.

You can disable the sticky effect on a per key basis by mapping it to the value "FF", which is not a valid virtual key code. For example:

2K10FF"

disables the sticky effect for the Shift keys. With sticky effect disabled, pressing a Shift key in combination with a Braille character, or pressing and releasing it before typing the Braille character, has no effect. The case of the character is determined by the state of the Caps Lock key, so it is still possible to enter upper- or lowercase characters. The Shift keys on Braille display hardware are also disabled if sticky effect is turned off. However, if the main keyboard is enabled for standard typing, Shifting the standard characters (as opposed to Braille dots) by combining them with a Shift key still works as normal.

Similarly,

"K11FF"

Disables the Control keys for Braille characters. If a Braille combination is pressed with or after a Control key when the sticky effect is disabled, it is simply typed as normal. Standard characters enabled on the main keyboard can still be combined with a Control key to generate a control character.

The same scenarios apply to the Alt and Windows keys if their standard use has been disabled.

Turning sticky Shift and Control off does not affect the use of the respective right and left keys together to perform Braille output commands.
