Keyboard interpreting refers to the process of typing information on the computer keyboard to be read by the WintextCom user on their Braille display. This capability can be used simply to provide communication with another person, but it can also be used in situations where the typist (interpreter) is relaying to the Braille reader what other people are saying.

WintextCom enables people with loss of both sight and hearing to actively participate in group discussions such as in meetings. By connecting WintextCom to another computer or communications centre in such a situation, a single interpreter can relay the proceedings to more than one person, or even remotely to people participating from the other end of a telephone line. Each person receiving the interpreting can read at their own speed, without restriction on the interpreter's typing speed.
