You can specify an alternative, or secondary, web browser with the "%B" configuration switch. This browser will be used to display a web page whenever you select the address in the directory and press F9. You can also open the alternative browser without specifying a web page to initially display by pressing Control+Alt+WindowsKey+W from anywhere, within WintextCom or another application; the browser opens at the system-defined home page.

You can configure WintextCom to run the alternative web browser by default, when you press ENTER or left click a directory web page entry, and use the system browser when you press F9. To make the secondary web browser the WintextCom default on ENTER, use the configuration switch "%B+" (capital B) on the WintextCom command line or in the setup file. For more details, see the configuration and customisation section of online help.

By default, the secondary web browser is the Webbie Text Browse, which must be installed separately to Windows Text Communications on your computer. If it is present, it will open when F9 is pressed, or ENTER if set as the WintextCom default. Having the secondary web browser as the WintextCom does not affect the system browser settings, it will be launched as expected if you click a link in an e-mail message, etc.

Note that the alternative browser is only used for displayable web pages, not for files to be downloaded, these are processed in the system web browser as normal. This is the case regardless of the alternative browser's status, even if it is being used as the WintextCom directory default.
